The GEHS is a non-profit organization working to preserve, collect, and promote local history.
The Glen Ellyn Historical Society operates the Glen Ellyn History Park which includes the 1846 fully restored "Stacy's Tavern Museum". The Tavern Museum is open April-late November every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. (Check the website for details.) The tavern is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and served originally as a stagecoach stop between Chicago and Galena, Illinois. Groups tours (10 or more) of Stacy's Tavern Museum are available on a year-round basis. Student tours are welcome. Please arrange tours at least two weeks in advance.
The GEHS also operates the Glen Ellyn History Center located at 800 N. Main Street in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The Center includes Stacy's Corners Store - a gift shop with a variety of merchandise including work from local artisans, historical items, antiques, and general gift items.
The History Center houses the GEHS Research Archive that is open every Wednesday from 1-4 p.m.
The History Center has a public program space where programs and concerts are held. The program space is available for rent based on availability.
